Record US cyclosporiasis outbreak worsened by Trump's public health cuts
The United States is experiencing a record outbreak of cyclosporiasis, a foodborne parasitic illness. Experts say layoffs of health workers, reduced disease surveillance and Medicaid cuts under the Trump administration have made the outbreak significantly harder to track and contain. Michigan detected the first cases in late June and issued public warnings on 1 July, but officials still cannot tell whether those warnings have curbed the spread.
