Shattered asteroid may have bombarded Earth and the Moon 800 million years ago

A catastrophic asteroid breakup around 800 million years ago may have triggered a major wave of impacts across the inner solar system. Debris was flung from near a gravitational gateway controlled by Jupiter, striking Earth, the Moon, and Mars. The event could explain ancient lunar craters and may have contributed to significant climate and biological changes on Earth.
