Half of Canada's wildfires break out in remote areas with no road access, making them practically impossible to fight and leaving authorities to let them burn out on their own. The lack of infrastructure and vast distances prevent effective firefighting intervention. The problem is worsening as climate change increases the frequency and intensity of wildfires across the country.
