"World War II with Tom Hanks" hits number one in worldwide streaming

When it comes to World War II movies and TV shows, few names carry the same weight as Tom Hanks , who has starred in some of the genre’s most famous projects in history. The first that comes to mind is Saving Private Ryan , the visceral war thriller from the '90s that was directed by Steven Spielberg . Saving Private Ryan won five Oscars and grossed over $480 million at the global box office, and it’s well-regarded as one of the greatest movies ever made. Hanks and Spielberg reunited just a few years ago for Masters of the Air , the Apple TV series that was trending in the top 10 as recently as last week. Hanks is even the narrator of a new World War II historical series, World War II with Tom Hanks , which features the actor taking audiences through some of the most crucial moments of WWII.
