Germany sees record 5,800+ conscientious objector applications in just six months

More than 5,800 applications for conscientious objector status were filed in Germany in the first six months of the year, surpassing the total for all of 2025, according to the RND news network. The surge coincides with the Bundestag debating and passing a new military conscription model. The figures are recorded by the Federal Office for Family and Civil Society (BAFzA).
