Nolan's "Odyssey" Review: Real, Human Characters at Last

Critic Varga argues that the greatest achievement of Christopher Nolan's new film is that its characters are, for the first time in his career, genuinely human and emotionally resonant. In previous Nolan films, characters felt like "frozen cod fillets", according to the reviewer. The film draws on Homer's "Odyssey", with the audience invited to see themselves in Odysseus, Penelope, Circe and Calypso.
