Study: Summer sun alone is not enough to fix vitamin D deficiency for many
A new study found that for certain population groups, summer sun exposure alone is insufficient to correct vitamin D deficiency. Factors such as skin tone, age, geographic latitude and sunscreen use can significantly limit the body's ability to synthesise vitamin D. Researchers suggest that at-risk individuals should consider supplementation rather than relying solely on sunshine.
