Men stay silent about feelings — educator: the tough-guy ethos is slowly changing
Many men, like Adam, have not spoken to their fathers about emotions since secondary school, because culture expects them to be tough and act rather than show vulnerability. Educator, therapist and suicidologist Piotr Bakan says this ethos is slowly changing but requires time and social acceptance of talking about one's own needs. The lack of emotional openness among men carries serious health and social consequences.
