OSW Analyst: Strengthening NATO's Eastern Flank Is Russia's Greatest Fear
Piotr Szymański, an analyst at the Centre for Eastern Studies (OSW), says Russia has long sought to limit NATO's presence in Central and Eastern Europe. A strengthening of the Alliance's eastern flank would be another defeat for Moscow, comparable to Finland's and Sweden's NATO accession. Poland stands to gain strategically from any such reinforcement.
