Bethesda confirms Starfield has 17M players and more content coming in Year 3

Bethesda says Starfield "remains an important part of our future," teasing plans for the space RPG's third year following worries from fans that the project would be swept under the rug as part of Xbox's big reset.

Over on Twitter , Bethesda speaks about what the road ahead looks like for the studio following sweeping cuts across Xbox's portfolio of studios. As for Starfield , there's seemingly still plenty to come, as Bethesda clearly proclaims, "Starfield continues." That'll be a relief for worried fans already, but thankfully there's more information on offer.

"With over 17 million players logging almost a billion hours to date, Starfield remains an important part of our future," Bethesda says. "As we enter Year 3, we'll continue expanding the Settled Systems with new stories, targeted gameplay improvements, and additional updates, while preparing for the launch of new Starborn content next year.

"More than 40% of players already customize their experience through Creations, and we'll continue investing in creators and giving players new ways to make Starfield their own."

So, why the worry? Following news of Xbox's reset that will see 3,200 jobs chopped when all is said and done, reports surfaced that studios would focus on their key franchises – including The Elder Scrolls and Fallout for Bethesda. While there were never any claims that Starfield would be tossed into the bin, fans felt uneasy that the space RPG wasn't mentioned.

Despite it all, it seems like Bethesda is continuing with Starfield for now.
