US Navy 2 years behind schedule on Zumwalt hypersonic missile installation

The US Navy's programme to install hypersonic Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) missiles on three Zumwalt-class destroyers is two years behind schedule, according to a Government Accountability Office report. Missile flight tests planned for 2025 have been pushed back to 2027, and the Navy and Army are reportedly failing to coordinate work on the joint programme. The GAO flags rising costs, destroyer reliability issues and missile production challenges.
