France and Germany pledge to develop a European rival to Palantir

France and Germany announced Friday, following talks between Emmanuel Macron and Friedrich Merz, that they will explore developing a European sovereign digital backbone as an alternative to military software from US company Palantir. France's domestic intelligence service ended its Palantir contract in June, while Germany's spy agency chose French firm ChapsVision instead. Their joint declaration cited France's Arcadia and comparable German solutions as models for the new initiative.
