Koko Crater Tramway Hike in Hawaii: 1,041 Steps Up an Old Military Track

The Koko Crater Tramway trail on Oahu, Hawaii challenges hikers with 1,041 steps along an old military railway track, gaining 1,100 feet in elevation over 1.6 miles. The tramway was originally built by the U.S. Army during World War II to service a radar station at the summit of Kohelepelepe, and was decommissioned in 1966. A nonprofit organisation maintains the trail today.
