France legalises assisted dying – parliament passes law 291 to 241

On 15 July, France's Assemblée nationale passed the so-called End of Life Law by 291 votes to 241, legalising assisted suicide and euthanasia. The legislation is considered a landmark achievement of President Emmanuel Macron's programme. France joins a growing number of European countries that have legalised assisted dying.
