Will Ferrell and sports comedy tend to be a match made in heaven. While classics like Anchorman and Elf stand out among his most memorable and humorous cinematic efforts , he's shone as eccentric protagonists attempting to reach the top of the mountain, from the titular Ricky Bobby in Adam McKay 's NASCAR comedy Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby , to raunchy skater Chazz Michael Michaels in Will Speck and Josh Gordon 's Blades of Glory . Yet, it's been a while since he's taken to the track, field, or any sporting arena, with his last such role on the big screen being 2008's Semi-Pro , casting him as a one-hit-wonder artist turned owner of an American Basketball Association team struggling to survive.
