ICE to pay Thomson Reuters $125m for personal data to probe alleged voter fraud

The US Department of Homeland Security plans to pay data giant Thomson Reuters $125 million for access to databases containing names, addresses, Social Security numbers, ethnicity, social media posts and geolocation data on millions of people. The contract, uncovered in procurement documents by 404 Media, is intended to help ICE investigate alleged voter fraud and immigration fraud. The deal comes days after President Trump held a widely criticised press conference about election security.
