Dark Energy Camera captures cosmic version of Van Gogh's Starry Night

NASA's Dark Energy Camera (DECam) has captured a stunning image of the Corona Australis molecular cloud, a star-forming region that strikingly resembles Van Gogh's "The Starry Night." The cloud spans roughly 16 light-years in diameter and sits about 430 light-years from Earth, making it one of the closest stellar nurseries to our solar system. The dark lanes of gas and dust visible in the image are the raw materials from which new stars are born.
