I like a little doohickie. You know, a thingamabob. A little extra device sitting on your desk that you probably won't use very much, but the design made you buy one anyway.

Which is why something deep in my soul yearns for this Codex Micro mini keyboard, even though I have little interest in OpenAI's coding assistant (via Ars Technica ). It's been designed in collaboration with Work Louder, and looks a lot like one of the company's Creator Micro range of customisable mini keebs.

The device is regarded as OpenAI's first venture into branded hardware, and while rumours swirl that the company may be about to launch an AI-powered smart speaker , the Codex Micro instead allows users to interact with (and monitor) multiple Codex threads at once, complete with light up keys indicating their individual status.

The little dial in the top right can be used to "control how deeply your agent thinks," according to the product page. Turn it down for quick tasks, and dial it up "when the work needs to be more considered." Excellent. I function mostly the same, except based on caffeine level.

Look, if we must be forced into our "AI agents are amazing, no really" future, at least we should get some custom, agent-controlling hardware to lust over. Then I can pretend I'm living in a sci-fi dreamscape, rather than literally the worst sort of corporate dystopia I can think of.

OpenAI / Work Louder OpenAI / Codex Micro Speaking of terrible things, the device also comes with 32 swappable keycaps, two of which are labelled "yolo" and "yeet." Yes, it's 2014 all over again, and we are very much down with the kids here at OpenAI. Yaaaasss, bae. Etc, etc.

Unfortunately, the Codex Micro is a limited launch—so if you're the sort of person that thinks Sam Altman might be on to something, you'll need to pick one up quick.

Or, you could consider the Creator Micro 2 , which looks very much like the same product (minus the Codex-specific features) and comes in a rather handsome black finish—without the OpenAI branding plastered on the box.

I know which I prefer, but the lack of an included yeet button? Hardly on fleek, if you ask me.

That's the furthest thing from a controversial statement, but widespread celebration doesn't make the mind of the world's most popular fiction author less singular. Given the wealth of spine-tingling mysteries in her catalog, there's an excellent chance that more adaptations of the Queen of Crime's bibliography exist than entries in her formidable catalog (66 novels, dozens of short stories). It's fitting, then, that no novel has been more riffed upon than 1939's And Then There Were None — the best-selling book of all time and the epochal classic regarded as Christie's crowning jewel .

Xiaomi is testing a wilder SU7 Ultra, possibly badged Ultra Extreme

New performance model will rival the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Manthey.

The back-and-forth between Porsche and Xiaomi at the Nürburgring shows no sign of easing, and the Chinese firm now looks ready to land a knockout blow. These fresh spy shots reveal Xiaomi is cooking up an even wilder take on the SU7 Ultra, possibly called the Ultra Extreme.

Porsche’s Taycan Turbo GT originally held the Nürburgring lap record for premium-segment production EVs, until the SU7 Ultra ran off and left it behind. A few months back, Porsche finally rolled out the long-awaited Manthey Kit for its flagship Taycan and comfortably snatched the crown right back.

The aerodynamics of the electric sedan have been overhauled. Changes start at the front where there is an all-new bumper, air intakes, and splitter, complete with aggressive fins to direct air around the wheels. In addition, the car has louvers on the front wheel arches and a hood similar to that of the original SU7 Ultra prototype.

The rear is wilder still than the front. Xiaomi’s engineers seem to have studied the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and decided its towering rear wing would look right at home on a four-door. That oversized item uses a twin-plane design with swan-neck uprights, and might even run an active DRS system. A new lip spoiler peeks out from the fluorescent yellow camouflage, and an aggressive diffuser adds still more downforce.

More Power, Too?

It’s too early to say whether the car gets a power bump. The existing SU7 Ultra sends 1,548 hp through its three electric motors, but around 18 months ago Xiaomi revealed a quad-motor EV platform good for up to 2,054 hp. That setup may debut in a flagship two-door coupe and could also reach the SU7. Even if it doesn’t, and output holds level with the standard Ultra, the aero changes alone should carve real time off the car’s Nurburgring lap. Enough to beat the Porsche as well? With any luck we won’t wait long to find out.

Berlin is full of superlatives—bigger, better, higher, deeper, older. Being number one in some category or another is a sales-boosting unique selling proposition .

If you say to someone in the Wedding district that they are " der Schärfste " (literally, "the sharpest"), this is youth slang from a bygone generation of the eighties for "the best, coolest, most beautiful, etc."

At this place, which celebrates itself as the "sharpest" snack bar ( Imbiss ), the owners flirt with spiciness: Curry & Chili initially looks like a completely normal snack bar, just like hundreds of others in Berlin. The menu also offers nothing that you couldn't find elsewhere. The special business idea is the chili sauces, which are available in all, and above all, increasing levels of heat. The sauces are presented in a fiery ranking. Skulls, devils, and flames on the labels foretell impending doom.

The culinary experience becomes a test of courage or an endurance test . You learn that heat levels are specified in Scoville Heat Units (SHU) , which indicate the capsaicin content. Regular Tabasco sauce has 4,000 SHU; the hottest sauce at this snack bar has no less than 7,777,777 SHU .

The effect on the tongue and palate is similar to what the alien blood in Alien 1 had on the metal decks of the spaceship... The antidote—milk or cocoa—is also sold; carbonation increases the pain.

To fuel masculine bravado and increase sales, there is the Curry & Chili Club , which you are admitted to if you have consumed all heat levels within 6 months, verifiable on a stamp card. You are then immortalized with your name and photo on the side wall. The photos predominantly show real guys, captured in the process with teary and red eyes or with a tortured and distorted expression. But a few ladies are also among them—this is the Wedding district, after all!

If you take this risk, you might as well bring a tunnel piercing with you to keep the holes open. And don't forget: You always get something from chili sauces twice ...

The Grade II listed tower, beloved by so many locals and visitors alike, thanks to its central location, was built in 1888 to celebrate Queen Victoria’s golden jubilee. The structure was commissioned by local advertiser James Willing, and a competition was promptly held by the town to decide on a designer. The winning design, although not exactly liked by many locals, was submitted by London-based architect John Johnson. It has since become the go-to meeting place in the centre of the city and has served as the focal point of many a protest—not least of all those with an anti-Victorian sentiment shortly after its completion.

The really unique aspect of the construction is rarely noticed by most passers-by. Perched on the very top of the tower sits a gilded copper ball on a vertical rod. This device was one of several inventions by eccentric local legend, Magnus Volk - best known for the oldest surviving electric railway, Volks Railway, on the seafront.

The hydraulically operated time ball was designed to move up and down the mast, representing the time of day based on its location. Unfortunately, the sound of the wind whistling up the slots on the rod was so loud that the contraption was promptly disabled and sat dormant on top of the structure until refurbishment in 2002.

These days the ball can sometimes be seen at ‘half-mast’ or approaching the top of the rod, though it doesn’t offer a reliable indicator of the time. For that, you should just use the handy clock faces that cover each of the four sides of the tower.

The latest Nielsen viewership report is in, and the wins just keep on coming for Netflix 's new mystery series based on a Harlan Coben bestseller. The streamer has already revealed that the series has accumulated more than 85 million views in its first month. And now, the latest Nielsen data has shed light on more details. Nielsen's streaming report is typically unveiled a month after the fact, and the latest edition tracks viewership in the week of June 15 to June 21. The hit mystery series was released on June 18, which means that its record-breaking debut is a result of only four days' worth of viewing.

The redesigned BMW M3 has begun testing on the Nürburgring.

Due in 2028 with a mild-hybrid, twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six.

Car sports an aggressive Neue Klasse design and four tailpipes.

Development of the next-generation BMW M3 has entered a new phase as the model has begun testing on the Nürburgring. It’s a natural place for the high-performance sedan, which will have some things in common with today’s model.

That will readily be seen under the hood as BMW M CEO Frank Van Meel recently confirmed the car will be offered with a version of their updated twin-turbo 3.0-liter straight-six. It complies with Euro 7 emission standards thanks to BMW M Ignite technology , which allows the engine to burn cleaner and more efficiently.

The upgraded engine debuts in the current M3 and M4 this month, before being added to the M2 in August. The output remains unchanged, so the mill should continue to have outputs of 473 hp (353 kW / 480 PS), 503 hp (375 kW / 510 PS), and 523 hp (390 kW / 530 PS).

The redesigned model will largely echo that, but it’s slated to adopt a new mild-hybrid system. This should improve performance and efficiency, which sounds like a win-win.

Putting the powertrain aside, the next M3 will adopt an edgier design. The front end loosely follows in the footsteps of the electric M Neue Klasse concept , but adopts a revised bumper and modified intakes. The car also appears to eschew a traditional grille, despite being ICE-powered.

The profile is notable for having extended wheel arches that hint at a wider track. They’re also marked with “19” front and “20” rear, which implies the prototype has staggered wheels.

Other highlights include flush-mounted door handles and stylish wheels that are grabbed by a beefy braking system with bronze calipers. We can also see a greenhouse and roofline that echoes the new i3 .

The rear end is pretty evolutionary in comparison as it features a familiar four-tailpipe exhaust system and a small rear spoiler. They’re accompanied by a new trunk and temporary taillights.

The interior is more mysterious, but it will undoubtedly adopt Panoramic iDrive . This means we can expect a pillar-to-pillar display at the base of the windscreen as well as a 17.9-inch infotainment system. The model could even be offered with a 14.6-inch front passenger display.
