Roger Summit, pioneer of early online search, dies at 95
Roger Summit, a research scientist at Lockheed who invented one of the earliest online search systems — capable of searching scientific and technical literature almost instantaneously — has died at the age of 95. His work laid the groundwork for modern information retrieval long before today's search engines existed. Summit is regarded as a pioneer of online search.
