Herbert bogeys 18th to finish with 62, missing record round of 61 at The Open

Australian golfer Lucas Herbert had a golden opportunity to shoot a record-breaking 61 in the second round of the 2026 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, but pulled his five-foot putt wide on the 18th hole, making a bogey. He finished with a score of 62 — still an excellent result — but missed out on what would have been the lowest round ever recorded at a men's major. The missed putt was one of the most dramatic moments of the tournament so far.
