Man's fertility restored 16 years after frozen testicular tissue transplant
A man has had his sperm production restored after a transplant of testicular tissue that was removed and frozen when he was 10 years old, just before chemotherapy. The tissue proved viable 16 years after freezing, according to research published in Nature on 17 July 2026. The case offers hope for pre-pubertal boys who must undergo fertility-damaging cancer treatment.
