WWII Mortar from September 1939 Unearthed at Westerplatte in Gdańsk

Archaeologists have unearthed a historic mortar at the former Westerplatte site in Gdańsk, an artefact that played a significant role during the defence of the peninsula in September 1939. It is only the second such item ever found at the location, making it an exceptionally valuable historical find. The discovery deepens understanding of the fighting at Westerplatte at the outbreak of World War II.
