Record-sized ornamental turtle caught in Poznań — owner faces up to 1 million PLN fine

An exceptionally large ornamental turtle — an invasive species threatening native wildlife — was caught in Poznań. The owner of such a reptile faces a fine of up to one million Polish zlotys for abandoning it. Ornamental turtles are popular pets in Poland, but releasing them into the wild is illegal.
