Andy Burnham becomes Labour leader and UK's next prime minister
Andy Burnham was confirmed as the new Labour Party leader on July 17, winning a by-election in the Makerfield constituency near Manchester by a landslide. He will become the UK's seventh prime minister in a decade. Labour MPs believe Burnham is the party's best chance of countering Nigel Farage's anti-immigration Reform UK party.
