Polish-Danish Archaeologists Uncover Viking Secrets Beneath Wolin

Researchers from the Polish Academy of Sciences Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology and the University of Aarhus are conducting the second season of a three-year dig at the foot of Srebrne Wzgórze hill in Wolin. They aim to determine what role Vikings played in the founding of one of early medieval Europe's greatest trading centres. In the 9th and 10th centuries the site hosted a bustling craftsmen's quarter.
