Tusk Ends CPN Fuel Subsidy Programme Citing Budget Strain
Poland's government under Donald Tusk will not extend the Ceny Paliwa Niżej (CPN) fuel price subsidy programme, which cost the state budget billions of złotych. Tusk cited the impossibility of indefinitely funding artificially low fuel prices, especially given instability in the Middle East and unpredictable US policy decisions. The programme had been keeping fuel prices lower at petrol stations across Poland.
