Targeted Prostate Cancer Therapy Cuts Side-Effect Risk, NHS Trial Finds

A 10-year NHS trial involving nearly 3,500 men found that focal therapy — a less invasive prostate cancer treatment targeting only the affected area of the gland — significantly cuts the risk of serious side effects compared to conventional treatments. The study is one of the largest of its kind and supports wider use of the approach. Focal therapy spares healthy surrounding tissue, reducing complications such as incontinence and impotence.
