Scattered Spider hackers jailed 5.5 years for 2024 Transport for London cyberattack

Thalha Jubair, 20, from East London, and Owen Flowers, 18, from Walsall, have been sentenced to five years and six months in prison for the 2024 cyberattack on Transport for London, linked to the hacking collective Scattered Spider. The attack caused an estimated $39 million in damages; Flowers was also mid-attack on US healthcare firms when arrested. The UK's National Crime Agency says the sentencing has effectively dismantled Scattered Spider, a view backed by Microsoft.
