Sylwia Gregorczyk-Abram elected as Poland's new Ombudsman

The Polish Sejm has elected lawyer Sylwia Gregorczyk-Abram as the new Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman). She stressed that she approaches the role with humility and responsibility, and assured that no personal views or beliefs would influence her actions in office. She described the Sejm's vote as only the "first stage" of the process.
