Sylwia Gregorczyk-Abram elected new Polish Ombudsman

The Polish Sejm elected lawyer and civic activist Sylwia Gregorczyk-Abram as the new Ombudsman (Commissioner for Human Rights), with 233 votes in favour versus 177 for the PiS-backed candidate Adam Borowski. She will replace Prof. Marcin Wiącek. The Senate must still approve her appointment.
