July 18: Church Commemorates St Simon of Lipnica, Who Stayed During the Plague

On Saturday, July 18, the Catholic Church marks the optional memorial of St Simon of Lipnica, a Polish Franciscan friar and preacher who died while helping plague victims in Kraków. The day falls within the 15th week of Ordinary Time in the liturgical calendar. A Mass in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary may also be celebrated.
