Brain implant lets paralysed Keith Thomas feed himself and drink from a cup
Keith Thomas of Massapequa, New York, who was paralysed from the chest down in a swimming accident six years ago, has regained the ability to move his arms and feel touch through a brain implant. In 2021, electrodes were surgically implanted in his brain as part of an experimental "double neural bypass" that routes signals around his spinal cord injury. After months of training, he can now feed himself and drink from a cup independently.
