Polish Parliament Chooses New Ombudsman: Gregorczyk-Abram vs Borowski

The Polish Sejm is today voting to appoint a new Commissioner for Human Rights (RPO) for the next five years. The ruling coalition (KO and New Left) backs lawyer Sylwia Gregorczyk-Abram of the Free Courts association, while opposition party PiS nominated Adam Borowski, head of the "Gazeta Polska" club. The vote follows lengthy candidate hearings in parliamentary committees.
