Mars gravity and human colonization: science has no certain answer yet

Mars has roughly 38% of Earth's gravity, posing one of the biggest unknowns for long-term human colonisation. Scientists do not yet know whether such low gravity over extended periods causes irreversible harm to the human body, as most astronaut research relates to the near-zero gravity of the ISS. Thin atmosphere, radiation and lack of liquid water add further obstacles to any permanent settlement.
