India's theatrical market hit a record $1.48BN in box office revenue in 2025, making it one of the few Asian markets to surpass pre-pandemic levels. The boom was driven by a string of Hindi-language hits, defying the global slowdown caused by streaming growth and the shrinking Hollywood pipeline.
