Trump's CDC and ASPR nominees stumble badly at Senate confirmation hearing

The Senate HELP Committee scrutinised Erica Schwartz, nominee for CDC director, and Sean Kaufman, up for Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response. Schwartz was regarded cautiously optimistically by public health experts — she holds a medical degree, an MPH and a law degree and supports vaccinations, unlike her boss RFK Jr. Despite her credentials, both nominees performed poorly before the committee in their own distinct ways.
