Penguin Poo Visible From Space Shows Climate Change Impact on the Species

Researchers analysed 30 years of Landsat satellite imagery to track the colour and spectral signatures of Adélie penguin guano across Antarctica. It is the first time space-based observations have been used to monitor food-web and population dynamics of penguins at a continental scale. The findings shed new light on how climate change is affecting the species' distribution and numbers.
