New monkey species "Likweli" discovered in the Congo Basin

Researchers at Yale University have discovered a new monkey species in the Congo Basin, naming it "Likweli". The finding was announced on 15 July 2026. The discovery adds to mounting evidence that the Congo Basin remains one of the world's most biologically diverse and least-explored regions.
