2024 New Jersey meteorite contains amino acids — building blocks of life
A new study reveals that the Hillsborough meteorite, which crashed into a New Jersey home in 2024, belongs to a rare class of space rocks and contains amino acids, other organic compounds, and evidence of salty water. The findings suggest the meteorite carried some of the fundamental building blocks of life from space. Scientists say the discovery adds to understanding of how life's ingredients may arrive on Earth.
