Climate extremes fuel one of worst U.S. wildfire seasons in a decade

A climatologist has described a "perfect storm" of climate extremes priming the western United States for one of its worst wildfire seasons in a decade. Canadian wildfires are simultaneously sending smoke across large areas of North America. Drought and extreme heat are identified as the primary drivers of the explosive fire conditions.
