NFZ doubles childbirth payment to 9,000 PLN but 103 maternity wards face closure

Poland's National Health Fund (NFZ) is doubling the reimbursement for a natural birth from 5,000 to 9,000 PLN. At the same time, the Ministry of Health has published new healthcare-needs maps showing that 103 maternity wards fail to meet ministerial criteria — primarily because they deliver fewer than 700 babies per year — and could or should be closed.
