Australia's daily smoking rate hits historic low of 5.6%

Australia's daily smoking rate has dropped to a historic low of 5.6% in 2024, down from 8.3% two years earlier, according to the AIHW National Drug Strategy Household Survey. The result is well ahead of national targets, and vaping rates have stabilised. However, smokers are increasingly turning to illicit tobacco products.
