Crunchyroll Locks Its Online Store Behind a Subscription Paywall

Crunchyroll, a Sony subsidiary, will restrict access to its online merchandise store to paying subscribers only. The move has drawn widespread criticism, coming shortly after Sony announced it would cease manufacturing physical PlayStation games in 2028. Crunchyroll justified the change as a way to "capture the excitement of convention-exclusive merch" for its subscriber base.
