There was a time when Lamborghini built cars that demanded respect before you even turned the key. They weren’t always polished, they certainly weren’t forgiving, and they occasionally reminded drivers that several hundred horsepower without a safety net came with consequences. Those days are long gone, and Lamborghini’s latest comments about manual transmissions only reinforce how the brand has embraced outright performance over driver involvement.

No Stick For Lamborghini

Speaking to Road & Track at the Goodwood Festival of Speed , Lamborghini’s chief marketing and sales officer, Federico Foschini, dismissed the idea that the company could follow Ferrari’s surprise return to a gated manual gearbox. While he acknowledged that a small group of buyers still wants a stick shift, he made it clear that’s not where Sant’Agata Bolognese is headed.

“There are a few customers that are still in love with this kind of stuff,” Foschini said, “And I think that it’s an opportunity… but it’s not the trend. Because such kind of — let’s say, performance and driving engagement — you cannot experience with this kind of gearbox, you know?” It’s an argument that’s difficult to accept if your definition of engagement extends beyond lap times and acceleration figures. Especially when so many modern supercar owners never spend a single second on a race track.

Yes, a dual-clutch transmission will shift faster than even the most talented driver ever could. It will also make every launch more consistent, every upshift cleaner, and every performance statistic easier to brag about. In fact, they’re so effective that plenty of very good drivers still can’t make the most out of those gains on a track. But that’s never been why enthusiasts continue asking for manual transmissions. The appeal has always been about participation, not optimization.

A Simulated Compromise

Ferrari’s gated shifter looks the part, but there’s no mechanical link behind it.

Ferrari appears to understand that. By introducing the limited-production 12Cilindri Manuale, Maranello has acknowledged that there remains value in building a car that prioritizes the experience behind the wheel over shaving another tenth from a sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h). Not that Ferrari’s version is a true manual. The gated shifter and clutch pedal are real, but there’s no mechanical link to the powertrain, so the whole thing is a simulation running through an eight-speed dual-clutch and a system Ferrari calls “Manuale by Wire.” Whether or not the business case is limited to a special edition almost misses the point. Lamborghini, meanwhile, seems content to leave that niche entirely.

When Lamborghinis Bit Back

For decades, Lamborghini’s appeal wasn’t simply that it built the fastest cars, but cars that felt like an event. They demanded concentration , intimidated their owners, and rewarded those willing to master them. Today’s Lamborghinis use increasingly sophisticated electronics to make four-digit horsepower accessible to almost anyone with enough money to buy one.

That’s great for lap times and even better for influencers trying not to crash as they speed through Miami. It’s less convincing for those who believe the driver should still play a meaningful role in the experience.

The Honda Prologue is dead after the 2026 model year.

Move follows the death of the similar Acura ZDX in 2025.

Model was American Honda’s last BEV in the United States.

Honda had high hopes for electric vehicles, so they invested billions in an assortment of different models. Since their own in-house vehicles were a ways off, the company teamed up with General Motors to get the Prologue and ZDX to market.

Both were essentially restyled versions of the Chevrolet Blazer EV and Cadillac Lyriq . However, they didn’t get a welcome reception.

While the Prologue proved relatively popular, the ZDX landed with a thud and was killed off in 2025. Since then, the company has axed the 0 Sedan, 0 SUV, and Acura RSX as well as the entire Sony Honda Mobility brand .

Given the grim turn of events, it’s not surprising to learn the Prologue is the latest casualty. In a statement to Carbuzz , the automaker said “Honda will conclude sales of Prologue later this year following completion of the 2026 model year. Prologue customers will continue to receive full support through our dealer network, including service, parts, and warranty coverage.”

Last year, Prologue sales in the United States were up 19.1% to 39,194 units. This was likely driven by a mad dash to secure the federal tax credit before it was eliminated. Unsurprisingly, after it was phased out, sales plummeted and a mere 932 crossovers were sold in December for an 88.6% decline.

2026 has also proven to be a rough year as dealers have only sold 8,407 EVs in the first six months of the year. That’s down 48.5% and equates to around 1,400 per month.

The drastic decline meant the Prologue was American Honda’s second-slowest selling vehicle behind the Prelude. Sales were so low, the electric crossover was outsold by every single Acura still in production including the soon to be discontinued RDX .

Destiny 2 has been one of the most influential and enduring online shooters of the last decade, and the news that active development is officially ending has prompted some intense reactions from fans.

Bungie threw caution to the wind last month with Destiny 2's final update, Monument of Triumph, which made the game more active than it had been in years as current and lapsed players returned for the big send-off. Numbers from SteamDB showed Destiny 2's concurrent Steam player count had climbed to more than 165,000 at the time, which was the highest number for the game since summer 2024, which saw the game approach its all-time peak of 316,750.

Now we have some data from Circana senior director Mat Piscatella demonstrating the success of Destiny 2's last hurrah from a different angle. Instead of looking at raw player figures, Piscatella showed Steam's ranking of games with the most active monthly US-based users from June 2026. The data shows that Destiny jumped all the way from the 32nd position to 5th place, an absolutely staggering leap for a game knocking on death's door.

Unfortunately, these impressive player numbers are far too little and too late to do anything more than satisfy the morbidly curious. PlayStation laid off most of the Destiny 2 team as Bungie shifts its focus over to Marathon, even if the shiny new extraction shooter hasn't yet established itself as having anywhere near the impact of Destiny. Even developers from other studios, like Warframe lead Rebecca Ford, have said Destiny 2's death is "horrible news" for everyone because if it can happen to Bungie, it can happen to anyone.

FCC approves testing of satellites designed to reflect sunlight toward Earth

Startup plans thousands of orbital mirrors capable of extending daylight periods

Scientists warn artificial sunlight could interfere with astronomical observations worldwide

A California startup has received approval from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to test satellites designed to reflect sunlight toward Earth.

Reflect Orbital plans to launch its Eärendil-1 spacecraft with large orbital mirrors capable of extending daylight in selected areas.

The concept promises new applications for energy and emergency services, although scientists have raised concerns about its broader consequences.

Reflect Orbital to begin testing of ambitious sunlight reflection technology

The Eärendil-1 satellite will operate in low Earth orbit with four thin film reflectors measuring about 18 meters, or roughly 60 feet, across.

The reflected sunlight will be directed toward specific locations for short periods, supporting activities such as construction work, search and rescue operations, and solar power generation.

Reflect Orbital says its mirrors could eventually deliver up to 36,000 lux, roughly comparable to genuine daylight conditions found outdoors.

The system could also provide around 100 lux continuously, similar to lighting typically found inside standard indoor workspaces around the clock.

“We’re grateful to the FCC for recognizing the importance of testing novel technologies in space,” Ben Nowack, chief executive of Reflect Orbital, said in a statement.

“This license is the first step toward rigorously testing our technology’s efficacy and the safeguards we have developed.”

The idea has drawn comparisons with the fictional Icarus satellite from the James Bond film Die Another Day, where an orbital reflector was designed to bring sunlight to dark regions.

While the real technology differs significantly from the movie concept, critics argue similar questions about unintended effects remain relevant as deployment plans expand.

Astronomers and environmental groups warn about possible impacts

Astronomers have expressed concerns that reflected sunlight from thousands of satellites could interfere with observations of faint objects across the night sky.

Tony Tyson, chief scientist at the Vera C. Rubin Observatory, described the proposal as “even crazier” than previous satellite constellation challenges affecting astronomical research.

The European Southern Observatory warned that a full deployment could increase sky brightness at its facilities by three to four times, reducing the ability of telescopes to detect distant and faint astronomical sources.

Researchers also argue that artificial nighttime illumination could affect biological systems that depend on natural day and night cycles.

These concerns involve plants, animals and humans that rely upon predictable environmental patterns for normal behaviour.

The FCC stated that scientific and environmental issues fall outside its direct regulatory authority, which focuses mainly on communications services involving radio, television, satellite and related systems.

The agency approved testing because it believes allowing new space technologies supports innovation and economic development.

Critics may instead seek reviews from agencies such as NASA and the Environmental Protection Agency, which handle broader questions involving space activity and environmental effects.

Whether orbital mirrors become a useful technology or create unexpected challenges will depend on future testing, oversight, and independent scientific assessments.

MacBook users are complaining about their devices’ sharp edges

Several have decided to file their laptops down for more comfort

Apple is known for its keen sense of design and the exacting standards it holds its designers to, which is why it’s all the more surprising to see users of the best MacBooks filing the edges off their prized laptops. Yet that’s exactly what’s been happening over the last few months, with many arguing that it makes for a far more comfortable experience.

The latest example comes from software engineer Max Bretschneider, who posted a blog entry explaining their decision and how they went about doing it. They described their motivation this way: “A laptop will be frequently used on a lap, meaning the wrists will touch the sharp edge at an angle which is very uncomfortable.”

To file down the edge and reduce its sharpness, Bretschneider used a metal file and a block of progressive sandpaper. They taped off areas like the keyboard and trackpad, clamped the MacBook into place, then got to work.

Despite describing the process as “very scary,” Bretschneider added that the modification was “far easier and approachable than it seems initially.” They were able to “achieve an even level” when filing and sanding, leaving them with a device that could “serve its primary purpose as a tool better.”

Going further back, users have apparently been taking a file and sandpaper to their MacBook’s edges since at least 2010 .

And readers chimed in with their own thoughts, with one Hacker News user testifying that “the sharp edges have bothered me since they started with the unibody.” Another argued that sharp edges were “my number one complaint about the M-series [MacBook Pro] line.”

People have been augmenting their Apple devices in new and creative ways for many years now. We’ve seen people attempting to transform old iPhones into new ones , adding USB-C to iPhones that didn’t have it, crafting custom mechanical keyboards with built-in Touch ID , stuffing Mac minis inside old iMacs , and much more.

So, if you’ve found the edges of your MacBook to be a little too sharp for comfort, know that it’s entirely possible to sand them down for a more pleasant experience. Just make sure you’ve planned well ahead — and don’t expect Apple to look too kindly on your work.
