US and Iran trade strikes for sixth day, battling over the Strait of Hormuz
The United States and Iran continued exchanging strikes for a sixth consecutive day on July 16, fighting over the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz despite Pakistan's calls to resume negotiations. The renewed conflict broke out a month after a preliminary peace deal was signed between the two sides. US strikes since last week have killed at least 30 people in Iran, according to the Iranian government.
