IEA: Global demand for critical minerals to nearly double by 2040

According to the IEA's "Global Critical Minerals Outlook 2026" report, global demand for critical minerals used in the energy transition will nearly double by 2040 in the baseline scenario. The biggest demand increases are for lithium and copper. The report highlights China's dominance in this sector.
