Low-orbit navigation satellites offer signal 100x stronger than GPS

New navigation satellites in low-Earth orbit (LEO) could provide signals 100 times stronger than GPS, enabling accurate location tracking in dense cities, under heavy foliage and even inside buildings. California-based Xona Space Systems plans to launch the first six production Pulsar satellites in October 2026, with early service beginning in 2027. The full constellation of 258 satellites aims to be resilient to GPS jamming, which increasingly disrupts commercial aviation, maritime shipping and smartphone apps.
