Wærenskjold wins stage 12 of Tour de France to Chalon-sur-Saône
Søren Wærenskjold won stage 12 of the 2026 Tour de France, a 179.1 km leg finishing in Chalon-sur-Saône, in what is reported as the fastest stage ever ridden in the race's history. The stage was one of the last opportunities for sprinters — including Biniam Girmay and Jasper Philipsen — to claim a win before the climbing stages take over. From stage 13 onwards, the race's focus shifts firmly to the climbers and rouleurs.
