Danny McBride to direct and write new G.I. Joe film for Paramount

Danny McBride, creator and star of HBO's "The Righteous Gemstones," will direct and write a new, as-yet-untitled film set in the G.I. Joe universe for Paramount Pictures, marking his feature directorial debut. McBride is best known for comedy roles in films such as "Pineapple Express" and HBO series "Eastbound & Down." The G.I. Joe brand launched in the mid-1960s as a line of military action figures.
