UK Housing Association Takes Empathetic Approach to Helping Compulsive Hoarders
Many compulsive hoarders in the UK are too afraid to seek help or allow repairs, fearing eviction, and live without heating, hot water or functioning kitchens as a result. One housing association in Birkenhead is taking a more empathetic approach, running support groups for people with hoarding disorder. Participants describe years of isolation, shame and fear of losing their homes.
